अनुबन्धविज्ञानम् - पाणिनीयव्याकरणे इत्संज्ञकवर्णानां प्रयोजनम्
In Vyakarana Shastra, Anubandha (also called as "इत्") plays a vital role in the structure and functioning of Sanskrit grammar. Defined by the foundational sutra उपदेशेऽजनुनासिक इत् (Ashtadhyayi 1.3.2) and its related sutra-s, these Anubandha-s appear across a wide range of pratyaya-s (suffixes), dhatu-s (verbal roots), and even some pratipadika-s (nominal bases). Though not retained in the final word form, these Anubandha-s are essential for application of rules such as affecting इडागम, etc. Due to the vast range of their usage, many learners find it challenging to develop a comprehensive understanding of their role. In this course, Vid. Vaishnava Simha will briefly outline the types of Anubandha-s and their varied usages.

(Tarka and Vyakarana are helpful for the study of all shastra-s)
This popular saying highlights the importance of studying Paninian grammar. A basic knowledge of Paninian grammar is essential for any student who wishes to study Sanskrit literature or shastra-s.
Among the many contributions of Maharshi Panini, the Ashtadhyayi stands out as a foundational text in the Sanskrit grammatical tradition. To simplify the derivation of words, Maharshi Panini introduced several techniques - one of the most significant being the definition and functional use of Anubandha-s. Anubandha-s are technical markers that, though not retained in the final word form, serve critical functions in the derivational process. They help perform tasks such as blocking गुण or वृद्धि, enabling इडागम, affecting the application of स्त्री-प्रत्यय, and more.
This course offers a brief introduction to different types of Anubandha-s like आदित्, कित्, and others, along with selected examples of how they are used in word derivation. This course is rooted in the framework of the Ashtadhyayi, with a focused exploration of the concept and application of Anubandha-s in usage.
