Ashtadhyayi of Panini, comprising of 8 chapters, is the preliminary and the base text for learning Vyakarana Shastra. This text contains approximately 4000 sutra-s encompassing all the grammatical concepts. Mastering the technique of understanding a sutra, using the inbuilt structures of Ashtadhyayi, is essential to go deep into Vyakarana. In this course, Vid. Vaishnava Simha teaches how to arrive at the meaning of the sutra-s and applications of the sutra-s present in the first chapter, without the support of any commentary.

Eligibility
This course is meant for students who have not yet started learning Vyakarana Shastra (that is, learning of texts like Laghu Siddhanta Kaumudi / Kashikaa Prathamavritti / Vaiyakarana Siddhanta Kaumudi / Mahabhashyam, etc.) but have knowledge of Sanskrit language and basic grammatical concepts.
Learners must be able to understand simple spoken Samskrita
Learners should be willing to devote at least 2-3 hours per week for self-study in addition to class time.
Admission to Live Classes of this course was through an entrance test. It is now complete, and admissions for the Live batch are closed. You can still enroll in the course to join the Pre-recorded batch and learn through recordings of the classes. All course materials will be available.
The first adhyaya, is of paramount importance as it lays the foundation for the further chapters by defining few terms and techniques to understand and interpret the whole Ashtadhyayi.
This course offers to introduce this seminal first adhyaya by discussing the meaning and morphology of the sutra-s in a unique way without using any commentary such that just by knowing the sutra, the meaning of the sutra-s and its application can be known.
