R. will guide learners through the Adi-Parva, offering detailed explanations of the stories, structure, and literary style. This course also prepares students for the Turiya Examination conducted by Sri Surasaraswathi Sabha, Sringeri.
Note: Adi Parva is one of the lessons in the Turiya syllabus. This course aids students prepare for the Turiya exam.

  • Students who have successfully completed three levels of Samskrita Bharati or any other similar Sabha exam level. 
  • Those who have completed the preparatory courses conducted by Vyoma or passed the corresponding (Tritiya) examinations of the Sri Surasaraswati Sabha (SSS) are also eligible.

This is a 1-credit course, with a total expected student effort of 30-35 hours.

About the Teacher

Know More about the Course

Bharata-Sangraha literally means “a condensed version of the Bharata,” referring to the Mahabharata. In this work, Sri Lakshmana Suri retells the entire Mahabharata, all eighteen parvas, in refined Sanskrit prose. 
The focus is on the main storyline, omitting lengthy discussions, thus making the great epic more accessible to students and readers of Sanskrit prose. The work serves as a bridge between classical verse and modern Sanskrit learning. 
In Bharata-Sangraha the Adi-parva is condensed and retold in prosework talks about the ancestry of the Kuru-line, the births of major players like the birth of Drutarashtra, Pandu and their sons, the marriage of the Pandava-s with Draupadi. Birth of all Pandava-s. 
The role of the Adi-parva in this version is foundational. It sets the stage for the rest of the epic by establishing the main characters, their lineage, and the early conflicts that shape the story of the Mahabharata.
