Simplifying Sanskrit Grammar: The Gateway to Indian Knowlege Systems(IKS)

Sanskrit has served for centuries as one of the principal mediums through which the knowledge of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) has been preserved and transmitted. A vast body of literature spanning across economics, philosophy, medicine, science, arts, metallurgy, and other disciplines is articulated through this language of remarkable precision. To gain a deeper and more accurate understanding of foundational texts, familiarity with Sanskrit grammar is essential, as it governs the structure, meaning, and interpretation of the language. Classical Sanskrit works—often composed in concise forms such as sutra-s and karika-s—encode complex ideas through precise grammatical constructions and technical terminology. Many key concepts in shastric literature derive their meaning from verbal roots and systematic grammatical processes. A strong grounding in Sanskrit grammar therefore enables learners to read, analyse and interpret primary sources with clarity, allowing them to engage directly with the intellectual traditions that form the foundation of Indian Knowledge Systems. This course is offered through VIKALPA (Vyoma Indigenous Knowledge Centre for holistic, Accounting, Law, Political Science and Administration), a research centre approved by the IKS Division of MoE. This course is facilitated by two eminent scholars Dr. Venkatasubramanian P and Vid. Amogha Rao, who brings over 32 years of cumulative experience in teaching Sanskrit grammar.
