Devanagari is an ancient Indian script which has been the most widely used script for representing Samskrita since several centuries. It belongs to the old and famous Brahmi family of scripts. This script is also used to write a wide variety of languages like Prakrit, Hindi, Marathi, Nepali etc. It closely follows the Lipi Shastra and is very scientific in its usage. This course aims to provide guidance in learning the Devanagari script. The direction of writing, shape and proportion of the alphabets (called Varna-s) will be covered in this interactive course. In this course, Dr. Sriprada Indrankanti will introduce learners to the fundamentals of the Devanagari script through systematic and interactive guidance.

Samskritam is an age-old language perceived by great sages through the source of sound. The Devanagari script is said to be developed in the 4th century and widely used since the 7th century. It was not only used in India but also in the Southeast Asian countries. Many manuscripts related to Hindu, Buddhist and Jain religions are found to be written in this script even today. This is also locally known as Nagari. It holds both alphabets and numbers depicted in very beautiful characters. Scholars say that this lipi has been designed based on the lipi Shastra and follows a very systematic approach to learn the same. In this course, you will learn how to identify and write Devanagari letters.
Learn to write basic (Varnamala), Vowel and Consonant combination (Gunitakshara-s), Consonant and Consonant combination letters (Samyuktakshara-s) in Devanagari.
Yes. There will be 2/3 graded assignments given during the course, an average of those 2/3 graded assignments will be calculated and the certificates will be given to the students who score 60% and more.
