About the Course
Learning Outcomes :
- Learn to make the Vella/Sweet Seedai
- Learn to make the Uppu/Salt Seedai
- Learn to make the Mullu Murukku to offer Krishna and enjoy the same.
Precautions:
This session involves cooking with fire. Hence it is extremely important for children to be accompanied by elders for support.
Materials required :
Kindly go through the list of ingredients and have the pre-requirements ready.
Ingredients for Vella/Sweet Seedai -
Rice flour -1 cup
Roasted urad dal powder- 2 tsp
Coconut milk - 2 tbsp
Jaggery Water (filtered) - 1/2 cup Jaggery dissolved in little water
Unsalted softened butter at room temperature - 1 tbsp
Sesame seeds black/ white -1 tsp
Cardamom powder
Dry ginger powder
Ingredients for Uppu/Salt Seedai -
Rice powder - 2 cups
Roasted urad dal powder - 2tbsp
Sesame seeds black/ white -1tsp
Hing
Unsalted softened Butter (room temperature) - 2tbsp
Coconut milk -1/2 cup coconut
Salt
Water
Coconut/Refined Oil for frying
Ingredients for Mullu Murukku -
Rice flour - 2.5 cups
Roasted bengal gram flour - 1/2 cup
Roasted split yellow moong dal flour -1/2 cup
Hing (optional)
Jeera - 2 tsp
Unsalted melted butter - 2.5 to 3 tbsp
Salt
Water
Coconut/Refined Oil for frying
Pre-preparations :
Kindly prepare the following beforehand :
- Soak 8 cups of rice for 2 hours.
- Strain the rice and let it dry on paper or a cloth towel.
- Once the rice is almost dry, grind it to a very fine powder.
- Dry roast the flour well.
- Sieve the flour a couple of times in a fine sieve.
