Kiratarjuniyam is one of the five mahakavyas or great epics of the classical Samskrita literature. Bharavi, author of this kavya, is famous for the depth of meaning (अर्थ-गौरवम्). In these video lectures, Smt. Visalakshi Sankaran explains second sarga of the kavya in simple Tamil.

Kiratarjuniyam is one of the most vigorous and spirited poems in the Sanskrit language. Mallinatha has compared his style to a coconut, which has to be broken before one can get at the sweet kernel within. It was once a prevalent opinion among Pandits that Bharavi’s chief merit lay in the profundity of thought.
Second sarga of the Kiratarjuniyam contains 59 verses. In continuation to the advice of Draupadi in the first sarga, Bhima talks to Yudhishthira angrily, trying to convince him that it makes no sense to stick to the agreement made with cunning enemies like Duryodhana. In reply, Yudhishthira sticks to his stand firmly, with arguments to pacify his brother and wife. At the end of the sarga, Maharshi Vedavyasa visits the Pandavas.
