Gadya Sangraha is a collection of prose compositions from various works prescribed for the Samartha exam of the Chittoor Board. Literature in Sanskrit has been classified into various categories and a popular one is that of Padya (poetry), Gadya (prose) and Champu (mixed). Gadya or prose is the writing without the constraints of chandas and is usually seen as a very difficult form of Kavya. However, the beauty of this form is its long sentences that are full of sandhis and samasas, helping the poets develop forceful, picturesque descriptions. Gadyasangrahah is the prescribed textbook for the fourth level of examination- Samartha. It contains 10 prose-pieces selected from various gadyakaavyas, authored by a variety of authors including Dandi, Banabhatta, Trivikramabhatta, Ambika Datta Vyasa, etc.
